Where your file goes
When you attach a statement to an AI assistant, the file is uploaded to the provider's servers and handled under your account's terms. Whether its contents may be used to train models depends on your settings:
- ChatGPT: conversations can be used to train OpenAI models unless you turn off Improve the model for everyone under Settings, Data controls. ChatGPT Business and Enterprise workspaces are not used for training by default. Source: OpenAI
- Claude: on personal accounts, you choose whether your chats may be used to improve Claude. Source: Anthropic
- Gemini: your activity, including uploaded files, can be used to improve Google services, including training AI models, and some chats are read by human reviewers. Turn off Keep Activity or use a temporary chat if you don't want that. Source: Google
On rekeningkoran.id, the PDF is read and converted by your own browser. The file, its transactions and any PDF password are never sent to our server or anyone else. Details are in the privacy policy.
How you know the result is right
An AI assistant builds a table from what it reads in the PDF. On a statement dozens of pages long, you can't tell whether a row was skipped, swapped or misread unless you check it yourself. OpenAI also warns that ChatGPT can give wrong answers confidently, and advises users to verify important information. Source: OpenAI
rekeningkoran.id doesn't use AI to read statements. Each format is read with fixed rules, then checked:
- the opening balance plus all transactions must equal the closing balance;
- every running balance must match the balance the bank printed on that row;
- the totals printed in the PDF must match the calculated ones.
Anything that doesn't match is flagged, so you know exactly what to look at. Still compare the result with your original statement.
When an AI assistant still makes sense
- A short statement, when you have time to check every row.
- A format we don't read yet, or a scanned PDF, which we don't support yet.
- Questions about your transactions, such as grouping expenses, once the data is already in Excel.
Supported banks
BCA, Mandiri, Jago, GoPay and Gojek are supported. BNI, BRI, BSI, SeaBank, blu and other banks can be tried in beta: results are still checked against the printed balances, but the format hasn't been tested on a real statement yet, so check more carefully. Questions
Can't I use ChatGPT for bank statements?
You can, especially for short statements. But you still need to check the result against the PDF yourself, and the file is sent to the AI provider's servers. OpenAI itself advises users to verify important information in ChatGPT's answers.
Does rekeningkoran.id use AI?
No. Each bank format is read with fixed rules, right in your browser. That is why the result can be checked against the balances the bank printed, and why your file is never sent to any server.
Is rekeningkoran.id always right?
We don't claim that. What we do: the opening balance plus transactions must equal the closing balance, and every running balance must match what the bank printed. Anything that doesn't match is flagged. Still compare the result with your original statement.
If I still want to use an AI assistant, what should I set?
Check your account's data settings. In ChatGPT, turn off Improve the model for everyone under Settings, Data controls. In Claude, you choose whether your chats may be used to improve Claude. In Gemini, turn off Keep Activity or use a temporary chat.
