How it works
- Convert the statement. Drop the PDF into the box above and click Convert. Balances are checked against what the bank printed first.
- Open Reconcile. On the account you want to match, click Reconcile.
- Drop the ledger file. Export the general ledger for that bank account from your accounting software (CSV or .xlsx) for the same period and choose the file. Title rows, opening balances and subtotals are skipped automatically.
- Check the columns. Date, description, debit/credit (or amount) and balance are guessed from the column headings. Change any that are wrong. In a bank account's ledger, Debit is money in and Credit is money out.
- Click Match and download the result as Excel.
What you get
| Line | What it means |
|---|---|
| Balance per bank | The closing balance on the bank statement. |
| Deposits in transit | Money you've recorded as received that the bank doesn't show yet. |
| Uncleared payments | Money you've recorded as paid out that hasn't left the bank yet. |
| Only at the bank | Things the bank shows that your books don't, such as interest, admin fees or a transfer you haven't recorded. |
| Book balance it should be | What your books should show once those bank-only items are recorded. |
| Difference | Your book balance compared with that figure; 0 means everything is accounted for. Shown when you enter your book balance or pick a balance column. |
The Excel file has four sheets: Reconciliation, Matched (bank and book line pairs), Only at bank and Only in books. Ledger lines after the statement's period end are listed separately and not counted.
In your accounting software
Once you know which lines are missing, record the adjustments (such as bank charges and interest) in your software. In Accurate Online, bank reconciliation is under Kas & Bank → Rekonsiliasi Bank (Accurate help centre). If you use Jurnal, you can also import the statement with Export for… → Jurnal.
This reconciliation helps you find differences; the accounting decisions stay with you. Check the result against the original documents.
Questions
Which ledger files can I use?
A general-ledger or cash/bank book report for one bank account, exported from accounting software (Jurnal, Accurate, Zahir, Kledo, Xero, QuickBooks, Odoo and others) or from your own Excel, as CSV or .xlsx. It needs a date column, and either debit and credit columns or one amount column. Old .xls files need to be saved again as .xlsx or CSV.
How are lines matched?
Each statement line is paired with one ledger line that moves money the same way by exactly the same amount, on a nearby date (7 days by default; you can change it). With several candidates, the closest date wins first, then the most similar description.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The statement and the ledger are read in your browser and never sent to a server. We only count, anonymously, how many lines matched and didn't, never amounts or descriptions.
Why is there a difference?
Usually a transaction recorded on only one side, an amount typed differently, or dates further apart than the limit. Check the 'Only on the statement' and 'Only in the ledger' lists, or raise the maximum date difference.
